This sign has a little history behind it.  It once greeted people as they entered into Bakersfield in their cars.  It became an unofficial trademark of the city.  However, it fell into disrepair and, apparently, almost dismatled.  However, Buck Owen restored it and placed it near his Crystal Palace Restaurant and Showroom.
